Mirto is the classic liqueur and digestivo from Sardinia, made from an infusion of myrtle berries. Emilio Rocchino, the bartender behind Macchia, cleverly unites this traditional with the classic red vermouth of Torino, Piedmont. Cortese (Piedmont) and Muscat (Sardinia) contribute the base wine and other ingredients include cinchona, bitter orange, Roman artemisia, grapefruit, aloe, gentian, rhubarb and bay. The result is a beautifully balanced, Meditteranean aperitif!
