French white wine is one of the most exciting and underexplored categories in our range — and we've gone looking for the best of it.  Our selection is anchored in Roussillon and the Languedoc, where Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris produce whites of extraordinary texture, richness and Mediterranean depth – including some of the world's great fortified wines. Grenache Gris in particular is a variety we are passionate about — a close relative of Grenache Noir and Blanc, it produces wines of haunting minerality and elegance, with structure and depth reminiscent of white Hermitage at a fraction of the price.  We also range into the Loire Valley — one of France's greatest white wine regions — for Chenin Blanc, a variety of extraordinary versatility and longevity. From bone dry and mineral to richly textured and age-worthy, great Chenin Blanc from the Loire is among the most compelling white wine on earth, and remains criminally undervalued relative to its quality. Beyond these, we stock Macabeu and other southern French varieties from producers who farm organically and make wine that honestly reflects its terroir.
