Grapes: 

Coste della Sesia ‘Rosso’ and ‘Rosato’ must have a minimum 50% Nebbiolo

Coste della Sesia ‘Nebbiolo’ or ‘Spanna’, ‘Vespolina’ and ‘Croatina’ must have a minimum of 85% of the listed variety

Coste della Sesia Bianco must be 100% Erbaluce

Colline Novaresi - Province of Novara / created 1996

Grapes:

Colline Novaresi ‘Rosso’, ‘Rosato’, ‘Novello’ must have a minimum 50% Nebbiolo

Colline Novaresi ‘Nebbiolo’ or ‘Spanna’, ‘Vespolina’, ‘Barbera’, ‘Uva Rara’ and ‘Croatina’ must have a minimum of 85% of the listed variety

Colline Novaresi Bianco must be 100% Erbaluce

These DOCs are both blanket areas that are credited with the survival of the individual appellations within them by offering less stringent rules for blending, ageing and crop levels.

Coste della Sesia DOC (created in 1994) takes in the area West of the Sesia River including Gattinara, Lessona and Bramaterra. Colline Novaresi DOC (created 1996) encompasses the hills of Novara to the East of the Sesia River, taking in the appellations of Ghemme, Boca, Fara, Sizzano.
