'Wines in a Low Voice' is the project of Carlos Mazo in the eastern most corner of Rioja. In a landscape of high yield, barren personality wines, he farms ancient genetic material in the form of old bush vines that have been in his family for many generations. 'Erosivo' is a highly unique bottling of 70+ year old Tinta Velasca (the local Graciano from Alfaro) and Pasera (rare local white grape). With this wine, Carlos captures the half hectare, single vineyard site called 'Yasa de Las Cuevas'. Modernly ancestral, the fruit is foot stomped in open vats aiding gentle extraction. The fruit is pure - both red and blue - the wine racy and lifted with precise generosity. These wines are highly sought after amongst Spanish sommeliers meaning we are very lucky to have the chance to experience them. 750 bottles made!
