'Wines in a Low Voice' is the project of Carlos Mazo in the eastern most corner of Rioja. In a landscape of high yield, barren personality wines, he farms ancient genetic material in the form of old bush vines that have been in his family for many generations. 'Costumbres Tinto' is a blend of Garnacha, Tempranillo and Tinta Velasco (super local red grape). It surprises with its depth and layers while remaining bright, energetic and fruity. Crisp red fruits bustle with spice and aromatic herb touches. In contrast with much Rioja, this wine is pure and alive - the voice of a long line of bush vine Garnachas and Carlos' ancestors who tended them. These wines are highly sought after amongst Spanish sommeliers meaning we are very lucky to have the chance to experience them.
