VINTAGE REPORT: 2017 Valli Ossolane DOC
Temperatures were low during April which naturally reduced the number of grapes per plant keeping a healthy balance. Flowering was at the end of a dry May leaving lots of healthy fruit. Summer was warm and sunny in conjunction with the right amount of rain to keep the plants hydrated (quick ripening but no dehydration): July 38mm, August 150mm, September 60mm. September was warmer than usual which is a key difference in comparison with 2016. Harvest was in early October - about 10 days before the average (which is quite variable historically anyway). Grapes were super healthy and vinification went fluently resulting in generous mountain Nebbiolo wines with integrated tannin. 2017 was a moderate harvest in terms of quantity. Very good quality.
We are due to receive Australia's allotment of the 2017 vintage by Cantine Garrone, one of Valli Ossolane's star producers, in November this year. To take advantage of pre-arrival pricing, check out the wines via the link below and place an order to secure your selection.
