The wines of Bell Hill hold an almost mythical status amongst collectors of New Zealand's finest and rarest wines. Marcel Giesen and Sherwyn Veldhuizen are not winemakers — they are winegrowers. Their North Canterbury vineyard sits on a limestone slope modelled on the high-density plantings of Burgundy, located within a former lime quarry in the Weka Pass and farmed biodynamically since 2007. The yields are tiny. The ambition is enormous.

Arriving at exactly the place great Pinot Noir aspires to reach: savoury, resolved and graceful. Where many Pinot Noirs try hard to be good, Bell Hill is seemingly effortless — elegant and transparent, with innate power and a refined mineral core.
