Established by the Garcia family in 1994 in La Rioja, Pafritas does one thing differently from almost every other crisp manufacturer on earth: they fry exclusively in 100% traceable cold-pressed virgin olive oil from an estate in nearby Quel. No sunflower oil, no palm oil, no seed oil. Just Spanish potatoes and exceptional olive oil, finished with 1% Mediterranean sea salt from Alicante and — in the case of the seasoned varieties — PDO-certified Pimentón de la Vera, real garlic powder and winter black truffle. The result is a chip that is lighter, crispier and more flavourful than anything fried in cheaper oils. You can taste the virgin olive oil.
