Castello Conti 'Origini' Vino Rosso 2016

Dark, wildly purple, tannic and filled with iron minerality, this is the product of a single hectare blend of myriad varieties. It is a tense, medium bodied wine and for lovers of the unknown - this mountain village wine from 100 years ago. Fascinating.
"Goodness me, this is so minerally, it’s like blue metal, or blue steel; it tastes of metal. Purple colour, dark cherry, rose oil, blood and meat. Medium-bodied, fine chalky tannin, savoury flavour matched to perfume and purple berries. It’s dry and insistently tannic to close, with a pomegranate tang. It’s what you might call ‘an enthusiast’s wine’, though I do like it myself." Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
