Balestri Valda ‘Sengialta’ Soave Classico DOC 2020

'Sengialta' is a tiny cru vineyard enclosed by forest and a rugged cliff face, home to many of Laura's beehives and her best fruit. What a wine! It is 70% old vine Garganega and 30% Trebbiano di Soave hand-harvested, separately fermented and matured in neutral 2000-litre botti (large, upright oak barrels) for two years. The 2020 Sengialta is fabulously complex and a lesson in texture, with aromas of lime skin, yellow orchard fruit and bursts of white flowers. The deep and graceful palate is underwritten by crisp, saline minerality.
