Antoniolo - Gattinara's Greatest

With great pride we present the 2015 cru wines from Antoniolo, a traditional producer from Gattinara dating back to the 1940s. From this vintage all the wines will sport the qualification of 'Riserva' even though they have always been made in this fashion (3 years in large old Slavonian oak + 1 year in bottle).

The 14 hectare winery is composed of 5 different organically farmed vineyards and is currently run by the sister-brother combo of Lorella and Alberto. Their mother, Rosella, is a legendary figure who was the first in the region to bottle single vineyard wines while Lorella has been running the Consorzio of Alto Piemonte - taking the region's wines to the world. The cru wines are based on old vine Nebbiolo (60s/70s plantings) positioned in prime south facing sites, roots buried deep in the volcanic soil of the region. These wines are the heart and soul of this ancient Nebbiolo terroir in the foothills of the Alps.
